G2 took their revenge against FrenchFrogs with a 2-0 victory in Group B's decider at DreamHack Open Tours, advancing to the semi-finals, where they will take on Valiance.
Having lost to FrenchFrogs on Nuke in the opening round of Group B, G2 weren't afraid to play it for the second time, picking it in the deciding rematch. That choice quickly started to pay off, with Richard "shox" Papillon's side grabbing a hefty lead on the offense as they went 11-0 with FrenchFrogs unable to find an answer.
David "Davidp" Prins's men then found their first round with a half-buy victory, but it was all in vain as G2 quickly answered to eventually get away with a massive 14-1 half. Facing such a deficit, FrenchFrogs' chances of a comeback were thin at best, and even though they grabbed the second pistol round, the opening map was soon over as G2 closed it out in comfortable fashion at 16-4.
On Inferno, it looked like FrenchFrogs would return the favor with a flying start on the Terrorist side, which began with a close 5v5 retake scenario in the pistol round and transpired into a 9-0 lead as G2 struggled to defend both bombsites.
The tide turned in the 10th round, when Lucas "Lucky" Chastang and Audric "JACKZ" Jug combined for two each to give G2 their first round cleanly, upon which the favored team kicked into another gear to end the half with a six-round streak.
After switching sides, Kenny "kennyS" Schrub & co. kept up the momentum and the streak running, adding nine more rounds to it to reach match point, with shox and kennyS clutching a key 1v2 each along the way. FrenchFrogs stayed alive for the next two rounds, playing the numbers game correctly in advantageous retakes, but the third time around saw JACKZ turn a 3v5 into G2's favor with a quad-kill to end the series at 16-11, 2-0.
